HISTORY

The Academia da Cachaça was inaugurated on October 25, 1985, at a small place in Leblon, Rio de Janeiro.

The idea of the partners Edméa Falcão, Renata Quinderé and Hélcio Santos was to create a space where the Brazilian cachaça, upon receiving a professional and careful treatment, could be tasted, known, unfolded, valued and approved. Several paths were possible.

We chose to follow the essence of the Brazilian nature.

It worked out right.

Less than a year later, the Academia was appointed as one of the best restaurants in Rio. Fruit of a teamwork that wants to always offer its clients an original product of quality, a warm environment and a fast, polite and kind service.

We moved forward. In September 1989, the branch in Barra da Tijuca was opened.

Larger, it was conceived to shelter the collection of more than 2,000 bottles of cachaça that belonged to Ulisses Vasconcelos, a journalist from Minas Gerais. Displayed on glass shelves and arranged according to themes, they tell the story of 130 years of sugar cane spirits.

Since then, the Academia da Cachaça trademark has been confirmed as a reference in the gastronomy of Rio de Janeiro. Some of its products – caipirinha, feijoada, escondidinho – are considered in Brazil and abroad as one of the best in town.

When it was about to celebrate its 21st anniversary, in August 2006, the Academia da Cachaça enlarged its space in Leblon.  More comfort increasing its customers' satisfaction.
